\nWas it normal that the wife of one of the partners of the law firm defending DSK is the chief of the trial division in the Manhattan District Attorney\u2019s office? Even if she disqualified herself from the case, it raises a few questions no?
\nWhy did the Director of Sofitel in New York resign from his job?<\/p>\n
As Mich\u00e8le Dayras, co-founder of SOS Sexisme, points out in her article: \u201cThe disastrous management of the complaint of a proud and courageous immigrant woman just goes to show the lack of consideration that male-dominated, (\u2026) society affords to the victims. It\u2019s a backwards step and one that negates some of the progress made after decades of struggling to criminalise rape.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAs to the disturbed victim,\u201d Mich\u00e8le Dayras points out, \u201cwe prefer to deny she exists, forget her and erase her from our memories, except insofar as we hold her totally responsible for everything that has happened.\u201d Is the victim really any less credible than DSK?<\/p>\n
So, it\u2019s better to know that we need to be a saint to be recognised as a victim then<\/strong>. That\u2019s definitely why less than only 10% of women in France (and most probably in the EU) report being sexually assaulted and less than 2% of attackers are declared guilty!<\/p>\nSome people seem to confuse adultery with sexual assault, which is absurd.
