Sara De Hauw obtained a Master degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology at Ghent University in 2008. Afterwards, she started working as a Research Associate at Vlerick Business School, where she conducted research on various HR-related topics, such as competency development, career management and generation management. In 2010, she obtained a scholarship from the Intercollegiate Centre for Management Studies (ICM) to pursue her doctoral studies on the topic of work-life balance.

During her doctoral studies, she has been a visiting scholar at the Lebow College of Business (Drexel University, Philadelphia, USA) and at the VU Amsterdam (The Netherlands). She has become an active member of the academic community and has received three Best Reviewer Awards from the Academy of Management for her exemplary services to the Careers (2012, 2013) and Organizational Behavior (2013) division.

In 2014, she successfully obtained her doctoral degree in Business Economics from the KU Leuven for her doctoral study ‘In search of work-home balance: a study on the individual and contextual antecedents and career outcomes’. Her current research passions lie in the field of work-life balance, well-being and careers. Next to her academic and more practitioner-oriented research on these topics, she is also actively involved in the Centre for Excellence in Career Management and in several teaching activities. For example, she has been teaching Professional Management and Career Skills to a broad audience of Master students, as well as workshops on well-being to both HR-professionals and employees.
