We are all responsible for creating respectful and safe workplaces. It’s important that everyone involved, whether as a leader, a target or a bystander learns how to deal with what can be difficult and sensitive situations.
BNP Paribas Fortis will share its campaign against unacceptable behaviours , which has been launched end of 2017 : main issues – the impact of fear – how to decrease it – the role of all colleagues as witnesses – identifying high risk situations – and some tools / decision trees developed for this campaign.
In the last 30 minutes of this session Dorothy Dalton will give you some practical tips to tackle workplace sexism and sexual harassment in a constructive, appropriate, yet effective way.
BNP Paribas Fortis has been working on gender equality and a healthy gender mix within all its teams for many years. We have experienced the benefits for teams and business. We foster female talent, promote flexible work and move aside glass ceilings. An example: the percentage of female Branch Managers has moved from 24 % to 42 % – quota work and prove to have a lasting, self-sustaining effect. Furthermore, several initiatives in our company focus on young mothers, because we are convinced that a lot of career decisions are taken during those early career years. We believe this stage in life needs specific attention, and we believe that becoming a parent impacts your skills positively.
Our internal network for a balanced gender mix, MixCity, counts more than 1200 members – among which 20 % men (and counting). We also pay attention to the gender mix of our Client advisory boards in the different regions of Belgium.
Why these initiatives? Simply because 52 % of all our employees and half of our clients are women. And because mix in teams improves collective intelligence, and innovation capacity, which are key for us, as a Bank for a changing world.
We are always on the lookout for more actions to further the balance within our company. Learning never stops! Looking forward to meet you during this JUMP edition. (Welcome to our best practice workshop on preventing sexual harassment at 16.15
